Caitlin Carey advises clients in the areas of estate planning, tax planning, premarital planning, trust administration and probate court matters.
Bringing a thoughtful approach to her planning practice, which ranges from traditional estate planning to sophisticated wealth-transfer planning, Caitlin is particularly adept at balancing the competing concerns of gift and estate tax issues, income tax issues and California property tax issues under Proposition 13. She also draws from her background in litigation to anticipate and prevent family conflict through careful planning.
Caitlin represents clients in the negotiation and preparation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, often using a collaborative process whereby the parties and their attorneys work together as much as possible. She also counsels clients on the best practices for preservation of separate property rights and interests both before and during marriage.
Caitlin’s clients include individuals and families of all types, including newlyweds, families concerned with planning for their young children, multi-generational families who wish to coordinate their wealth-transfer planning and blended families where the parties wish to provide for each other while also protecting the interests of their respective children.
