Andy Pettit practices in all areas of intellectual property with an emphasis on patent and trademark procurement, strategic analysis, including infringement analysis, enforcement analysis and portfolio valuation, and counseling. Andy has experience in drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications, conducting disclosure meetings, and analyzing portfolios as due diligence for corporate transactions.
Andy represents clients ranging from multinational corporations to individual entrepreneurs and startups in legal matters. His experience co-founding a startup involving location-aware orthopedic devices not only offers clients a unique perspective, but also informs the counsel he provides in helping clients develop their IP strategies.
In representing clients, Andy has developed technical knowledge related to medical devices, medical instrumentation (including diagnostic and imaging technologies), nanotechnology, consumer electronics, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), cloud computing, and wireless communications. He also has experience in predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital signal processing, speech recognition, network visibility and security technologies, and virtual and augmented reality technologies.
Andy continues to stay active with his alma mater Duke University as a member of the Young Alumni Development Council and the Young Alumni Peer Network, and he regularly participates in the university’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program.
