A dual fellowship for one diverse 1L

The Adobe + Perkins Coie Two Steps Ahead Scholars Program is designed to offer a diverse first-year law student the opportunity to be immersed in both in-house and outside counsel environments by spending part of the summer in the Palo Alto office of Perkins Coie and part of the summer at Adobe’s Silicon Valley headquarters.

As a Two Steps Ahead Scholar, you will gain experience with a variety of projects and transactions related to a range of legal practice areas that drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal teams at Perkins Coie and Adobe. Best of all, you will routinely engage with many legal professionals and staff at both companies!

In addition to a paid summer position, the program participant will receive a $15,000 academic scholarship.

Criteria

The 2021 Two Steps Ahead Scholar will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Candidates must be a first-year law student in good standing pursuing the degree of Juris Doctor at an ABA accredited law school.
  • Candidates must have a strong academic record as well as experience that demonstrates great promise for a successful career in the legal profession.
  • Candidates must meaningfully contribute to the diversity of the law school student body and, upon entering the legal profession, the legal community.

Submission

To be considered, please submit the following through our application portal:

  • A current resume;
  • A cover letter;
  • Undergraduate and, if available, law school transcripts (unofficial versions are acceptable);
  • A legal writing sample (10-page maximum); and
  • A one-page, single-spaced, personal statement. Your personal statement should go beyond your resume to describe your unique personal history.

Virtual interviews will be completed before fellowships are awarded.
