As a trusted advisor in Perkins Coie’s Healthcare industry group, Zubin Khambatta helps healthcare providers secure and maintain a sound financial and regulatory footing so they are empowered to serve their patients. He represents healthcare clients in complex compliance and transactional matters involving Medicaid and Medicare regulations, healthcare fraud and abuse laws, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), and state laws governing reimbursement, operations. He also is experienced in operational matters involving hospitals, physician groups, public healthcare providers, and nonprofit healthcare organizations.
Zubin maintains a particular focus on the representation of children’s hospitals, public hospitals, academic medical centers, and hospital districts in government reimbursement and transactional matters that facilitate greater access to services and the shift to value-based care. He also represents providers in mergers and acquisitions and sales transactions. In this capacity he has assisted physician groups, hospitals, and behavioral health providers in their sale to larger platforms and has implemented various forms of co-ownership or co-management of healthcare organizations. He has also advised on entity formation of health organizations and related corporate governance matters.
As a member of Perkins Coie’s Technology Transactions & Privacy practice group, Zubin’s practice also encompasses counsel to startups as well as mature organizations in healthcare technology and data-related matters.
