Successfully defended academic medical center in putative class action involving hospital charges to uninsured patients.

Community Health Plan of Washington, Et Al. V. Washington State Health Care Authority, Et Al.

Superior Court of Washington, Thurston County
Represented managed care organization in Medicaid reimbursement litigation regarding allocation of Affordable Care Act expansion population among contracted Medicaid plans. After winning summary judgment, recovered $10.35 million for CHPW. Also successfully defended CHPW against a $20 million contract claim asserted by HCA in related administrative adjudication proceeding.

Horizon v. MultiCare

American Health Lawyers’ Association Arbitration
Defended local hospital system in breach of contract action brought by subsidiary of large national healthcare conglomerate. After week-long arbitration, prevailed on all claims and recovered all monies paid under contract along with attorneys’ fees and costs.

In re Signature Health Care

U.S. Department of Health Administrative Hearing
Represented joint venture between hospital systems in certificate-of-need proceeding. After three-day hearing, secured certificate of need for client and denial of competitor’s application. Prevailed on administrative appeal.

United States v. Homestyle Direct

U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho
Defended client against false claims allegations brought by federal and state government enforcement agencies. Successfully negotiated a favorable settlement.
