Matthew Sachaj graduated from Northwestern University, where he received a B.A. in Political Science and where he was a Chick Evans Caddie Scholar. As an Evans Scholar, Matt caddied for several professional golfers on the PGA Tour in the BMW Championship Pro-Am. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he served on the Notre Dame Journal of Legislation as symposium editor. As a law student, he was also on the team that presented the Law School’s showcase oral argument while a member on the Notre Dame Moot Court Board.
As a summer associate with Perkins Coie, Matthew conducted legal research for complex commercial disputes, participated in an investigation by the firm’s White Collar & Investigations practice and worked on pro bono cases involving RICO and child custody issues.
During his time with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, as well as the Cook County Office of the State’s Attorney, Matthew drafted a Social Security opinion and authored briefs on criminal matters ranging from proof beyond a reasonable doubt to excessive sentencing and ineffective assistance of counsel.
