Amos v. Oregon Health & Science University

Circuit Court of Oregon, Multnomah County
Successfully defended academic medical center in putative class action involving hospital charges to uninsured patients.

Oregon Health & Science University v. FamilyCare Health Plans

Circuit Court for Multnomah County (Oregon)
Represented academic medical center in Medicaid reimbursement contract litigation against Oregon managed Medicaid plan for wrongful underpayment. During trial, obtained seven-figure settlement for OHSU that exceeded the damages alleged in its complaint.

Trademark Litigation

Icebreaker Ltd. v. Gilmar S.p.A.

U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon
Represented Icebreaker in declaratory judgment action against Italian apparel maker, Gilmar. Won summary judgment of non-infringement for Icebreaker as well as summary judgment dismissal of Gilmar’s trademark infringement counterclaim.

Securities and Corporate Governance Litigation

Global Reinsurance Company*

Successfully represented a global reinsurance company in a securities class action involving alleged misrepresentations concerning the adequacy of the company’s loss reserves.

International Pharmaceutical Company*

Represented the independent board of directors of an international pharmaceutical company in shareholder litigation arising out of the withdrawal of a pharmaceutical product.


Death Penalty Appeal

Ongoing representation of a client on death row in Alabama in post-conviction appeals. Obtained remand to trial court from Alabama Supreme Court for evidentiary hearing.

Civil Rights

Rummell, et al. v. Kitzhaber

U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon
Pro bono representation of couples in successful challenge to state law ban against same-sex marriage.
