Kiran Griffith advises clients on employee benefits matters, including plan design and drafting, benefits strategy and innovation and regulatory compliance. Kiran’s clients include public and private sector employers, associations and boards of trustees, as well as service providers in the health and wellness space. Her practice focuses on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, the Internal Revenue Code and other federal and state laws that affect benefits design and administration under employer-sponsored employee welfare benefit plans.
Kiran counsels clients in connection with self-funded health plans, high-deductible health plans, cafeteria plans, health savings accounts, health reimbursement arrangements, flexible spending accounts, wellness programs, and employee assistance programs. Kiran also advises on ERISA and trustee fiduciary matters relating to health and welfare plans, as well as HIPAA privacy and security matters for health plan benefits.
Kiran regularly speaks and writes about a variety of health care topics, including the ACA, HIPAA, wellness programs, and association health plans. Kiran is on the Campaign for Equal Justice Board (with the Legal Foundation of Washington), which works to raise civil legal aid funds for people and families in Washington state, and she also serves on the Seattle Arts & Lectures Board of Directors.
Prior to attending Seattle University School of Law, Kiran served as a senior compliance manager of a business learning consultancy firm, where she worked with in-house counsel on compliance and business concerns.
