Kim Ying Ng Associate

Kim Ng centers her practice on internet and technology issues, with a strong focus on data privacy and information security. She counsels clients on compliance efforts with state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Communications Decency Act (CDA), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

A core part of Kim’s litigation practice is assisting communications service providers and other global technology companies in responding to third-party and government requests for user data governed by the Stored Communications Act (SCA). This includes working with clients to assess and respond to subpoenas, search warrants, and court orders from both state and federal courts.

Kim also works with clients in developing a comprehensive approach to privacy and data security, and assists clients at all stages of building, implementing, and growing a data privacy program. She has experience data mapping, drafting consumer-facing privacy policies, developing internal document retention policies, and devising incident response plans.

Before earning her J.D., Kim was an honors paralegal for the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division where she served on the trial teams for criminal prosecutions relating to price fixing in the liquid crystal display (LCD) industry and bid rigging at Northern California foreclosure auctions.
