Speaking Engagements

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings have become standards increasingly used by asset managers, institutional and individual investors to guide their investment decisions. In addition, the SEC’s March 2021 announcement on the creation of a Climate and ESG Task Force within the Division of Enforcement, the Division of Examination’s focus on ESG issues in its 2021 priorities, and the advent of the European Union’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation are just a few indicators of how ESG has become a regulatory priority. Companies large and small are facing the challenges of translating ESG values into actionable corporate policies, procedures, and behaviors that can be measured, monitored, quantified, and reported. A panel of in-house counsel and Perkins Coie attorneys discussed recent ESG regulatory developments and the benefits and risks in implementing and reporting on ESG issues.
