Rick Howell was quoted in "Trifecta of Change: How Innovation Takes Shape at Law Firms," regarding the implementation of technology in law firms. This article was first published in Legaltech News and was republished in Law.com

“We are a firm that has a lot of technology-focused clients,” said Rick. “We do have several relationships with companies that are technology-based, and because of that we have partners that are also very tied into technology.” Sometimes, however, adopting technology isn’t exactly a choice. “There are some forward-thinking clients … that tend to be more vocal about us thinking about technology,” he added.

Indeed, bringing innovation to a law firm can be a big investment, and one that likely cannot go fulfilled unless backed up by financial incentive. That means that often change happens because clients, or different markets, demand it. “Innovation just isn’t technology, its doing things differently and asking clients what they want,” Rick said.
