PORTLAND (February 21, 2023)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that litigation partner Renée Rothauge was recently sworn in as President of the Oregon Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).

Renée’s one-year term as Oregon chapter president began in January 2023. Her appointment is considered one of the highest honors one can receive as a civil jury trial lawyer. Renée was invited to join ABOTA in 2010 and has served on various national ABOTA committees since. She has been a national presidential appointee to ABOTA’s national board and has taught at several programs sponsored by the ABOTA Foundation, including serving on the faculty of ABOTA’s National Trial College.

ABOTA is an invitation-only national association of 7,300 highly experienced plaintiff and defense trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right to civil jury trials. To achieve ABOTA’s associate status, a lawyer must have tried 20 civil jury trials to verdict or hung jury. ABOTA’s primary goal is to educate the American public about the history and value of the right to trial by jury, and it is dedicated to elevating the standards of skill, integrity, honor, and courtesy in the legal profession.
