SEATTLE, Wash. (October 18, 2018) - Perkins Coie is one of the top seven firms that general counsel look to hire for IP Litigation, according to the 2019 BTI Litigation Outlook report, an annual analysis by BTI Consulting Group of the legal landscape. Perkins Coie was recognized as a “Powerhouse” for its ability to determine how important an IP matter is for the client and tailoring its services accordingly. The firm was also named a “Standout” in Commercial Litigation, ranking among the top nine firms.

BTI compiles its report from unbiased and independent research based exclusively on feedback from the general counsel or other legal decision-makers at organizations with at least $1 billion in revenue. The 2019 BTI Litigation Outlook predicts that IP litigation will grow 5.1% in the next year – faster than any other sector. An increase in the scale and complexity of IP litigation has spurred this growth, even though the number of companies facing such matters has dropped.

“We are pleased and honored to be recognized by general counsel as a top law firm to hire for IP litigation,” said Shannon Bloodworth, co-chair of Perkins Coie’s Intellectual Property practice. “Our ranking is a testament to our deep understanding of our clients’ businesses and the industries in which they operate. Strong industry knowledge allows our litigators to strategically assess client litigation needs and scale efforts to both efficiently resolve disputes and advance our clients’ business goals.”

Perkins Coie was also recently recognized as the seventh most active law firm in the country for IPRs in Patexia Inc.’s IPR Intelligence Report, an annual comprehensive report of IPR data and analysis over the last five years. The report named Perkins Coie the eighth most active law firm in the country representing petitioners in IPRs, and five Perkins Coie attorneys were named among the most active and best performing individuals representing petitioners or patent owners. This year’s analysis reviewed all IPR cases and associated parties from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2018 – totaling more than 7,700 cases and 1,100 law firms.
