SEATTLE (December 15, 2021)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that it has been named as a 2021 Inclusion Blueprint Champion by Diversity Lab, which recognizes law firm leadership and practice groups that are proactively taking action on meaningful diversity and inclusion practices.

To be recognized as an Inclusion Blueprint Champion, firms had to achieve an index score of at least 70 out of 100 across four key diversity indicators. Perkins Coie is the only firm out of the 62 law firms that participated in the 2021 Inclusion Blueprint to be ranked in four separate categories: Firm Leadership, Technology Transactions & Privacy, Intellectual Property, and Privacy & Data Security.

“As a firm, we are always working to strengthen our diversity, equity, and inclusion through intentional practices and systemic changes,” said Perkins Coie’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Genhi Givings Bailey. “We’re honored that the firm and three of our key practice groups were recognized for their proactive efforts over this past year.”

The Inclusion Blueprint, a collaborative project between Diversity Lab and ChIPs, is an assessment providing firm management and practice leaders with a roadmap of inclusion practices that they can employ and track to ensure that underrepresented attorneys have fair and equal access to quality work. It also outlines diversity representation thresholds that firms should strive to reach by incorporating and monitoring these inclusion practices.

Diversity Lab is an incubator for innovative solutions that boost diversity and inclusion in the legal industry. Its initiatives are backed by well-known companies, including Amazon, Intel, Microsoft, and 3M. ChIPs is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing and connecting women in technology, law, and policy.

Perkins Coie was also named to the ChIPs Honor Roll in 2021 for proactively tracking and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives firmwide and within the Intellectual Property practice. To be eligible, firms needed to participate in the Inclusion Blueprint survey. Out of the 41 firms that met the challenging eligibility criteria, Perkins Coie was one of only seven to earn the IP practice distinction from ChIPs.

Perkins Coie has long been recognized for excellence in the legal industry and for its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work culture. The firm was ranked as the #1 U.S. employer among the 2021 “Best Workplaces in Consulting & Professional Services” by Great Place to Work® and was named one of the 2021 “Best Law Firms for Women” by Seramount, formerly Working Mother Media. The firm has also earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s top rating of 100% in the Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, for 13 years.
