Press Releases

SEATTLE, Wash. (November 3, 2014) - Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that it has been named the 2014-2015 U.S. News - Best Lawyers® “Law Firm of the Year” in Environmental Law.  This marks the first time that the firm’s environmental practice received “Law Firm of the Year” recognition, an honor shared by the firm’s technology practice.

“Acknowledgment by U.S. News - Best Lawyers of the quality and depth of our national environmental law practice is an exceptional honor,” said Tom Lindley, firmwide chair of Perkins Coie’s Environment, Energy & Resources practice.  “This recognition really is the result of our clients entrusting us with their most complex and sophisticated challenges.  We are very appreciative of that trust and will continue to focus on ensuring that our clients receive the kind of industry-leading and innovative client service they have come to expect from Perkins Coie.”

Only one law firm receives the “Law Firm of the Year” designation in each of the nationally ranked legal practice areas.  Perkins Coie was selected based on a combination of the results of client surveys, background information provided by each law firm and responses to law firm surveys showing the high regard that lawyers in other firms in the relevant practice area have for the firm.

In addition to the practice’s recognition, the attorneys of Perkins Coie’s Environment, Energy & Resources practice have been routinely recognized as leaders in their field: half of the practice’s partners were recognized in the 2015 edition of Best Lawyers in America®, and a third were listed in the most recent edition of Chambers USA.

Perkins Coie’s showing in the 2014-2015 U.S. News - Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” includes first-tier rankings in 32 practice areas nationally and first-tier rankings in 63 practice areas in 13 markets, including Alaska, Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Idaho, Los Angeles, Madison, New York, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

Perkins Coie’s Environment, Energy & Resources practice has more than 110 attorneys in offices across the United States.  These attorneys help clients navigate the complex regulatory framework of environmental law and obtain the necessary governmental approvals to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance for public and private projects and facilities of all kinds.  Their deep bench of experience includes such projects as industrial and manufacturing facilities; oil and gas projects, which include exploratory projects, refineries, pipelines and distribution projects; renewable energy projects and transmission corridors; mining and timber projects; transportation infrastructure, such as highways, ports, airports and transit lines; residential subdivisions; commercial and mixed-use developments; schools, hospitals and research & development facilities; water supply reservoirs and flood control projects; solid waste, composting and recycling facilities; and telecommunications and utility projects.
