CHICAGO (January 4, 2012) – Perkins Coie announced today that three new finance attorneys have joined the firm’s Chicago office. Dan Coyne and Jim Carroll join as partners and Christine Biebel joins as of counsel. All three join from O’Keefe Lyons & Hynes, LLC. The new attorneys focus on the representation of healthcare and other nonprofit organizations in their financial transactions.

Coyne, Carroll and Biebel have a national finance practice and have represented one of the largest healthcare systems in the country, Ascension Health, since its inception in 1999 and the Daughters of Charity National Health System prior to that time. They also counsel a number of other health systems and educational institutions such as DePaul University and plan to continue with those relationships.

In addition to their national healthcare finance practice, the new lawyers also represent social service agencies, religious orders, charitable trusts, colleges, universities and various financial institutions in bond financings and other financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, issues with charitable trusts, bank representation, federal tax issues, privatization, real estate development and general corporate matters.

"The experience, background and existing client base that Dan, Jim and Christine bring to Perkins Coie are a great match for our growing Chicago office, particularly our Public Finance group" says William Corbin, a Perkins Coie bond partner. Bruce Bonjour, chair of the Perkins Coie Public Finance group notes, “the addition of these three prominent finance lawyers to our existing well-known bond lawyers such as Bill Corbin and tax specialist, Marc Oberdorff, makes our Chicago office home to one of the leading bond groups in the Midwest and gives us the size and experience to handle public finance and other financial transactions of all types throughout the country."

Coyne earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Marquette University. He is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He has also served as general counsel for the Evans Scholars Foundation/Western Golf Association since 1990.

Carroll received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, his L.L.M. from Cambridge University and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Loras College. He is a fellow at the Center for International Legal Studies in Salzburg and has previously served as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law.
