CHICAGO (January 5, 2021)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Arthur Rooney has joined the firm’s Labor & Employment practice as a partner in the Chicago office.

“We are continuing the strategic growth and capability of our national Labor & Employment practice, and Arthur’s background and experience will greatly benefit our clients in Illinois and across the country,” said Ann Marie Painter, chair of Perkins Coie’s Labor & Employment practice. “Arthur’s addition to our growing national practice will give our clients even greater knowledge and resources upon which to draw, especially in Illinois where the employment law landscape is increasingly more complex. We’re delighted to welcome him to our team.”

With nearly 20 years of experience in employment law, Arthur’s practice focuses on the defense of employers in state and federal single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action cases involving wage-and-hour lawsuits; FLSA collective actions; discrimination, harassment, and retaliation issues; and restrictive covenant matters. He also advises employers on preventative measures including reviewing employment policies, handling disciplinary actions and investigations, negotiating severance and release agreements, and conducting employment practices review.

“We’re excited to welcome an attorney of Arthur’s caliber and experience to the firm and our Chicago office as we continue to invest in Chicago and across the Midwest,” said Rick Sevcik, managing partner of Perkin’s Coie Chicago office. “Arthur has deep experience in providing effective legal counsel to clients facing labor and employment issues and we know our clients will benefit from his counsel. He is also the second partner to join our growing Chicago Labor & Employment practice this year, the most recent being Sarah Flotte.”

To accommodate Perkins Coie’s continued growth in the Chicago area, the firm is moving to a larger, more collaborative office space at 110 North Wacker Drive in 2021.

Arthur received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from James Madison University.
