CHICAGO, Ill. (October 13, 2017) – Perkins Coie is proud to announce that Chief Diversity Officer Theresa Cropper has been awarded the Law Firm Volunteer Award from Just The Beginning (JTB) - A Pipeline Organization (APO). JTB-APO is a multiracial, non-profit organization made up of judges, lawyers and others dedicated to developing educational and motivational programs to inspire careers in law among students of different races, ethnicities and other underrepresented groups.

The award, which Theresa received at the JTB-APO 25th Anniversary Celebration on October 12 2017, underscores Perkins Coie’s commitment to national diversity efforts and its position as a leader in the Chicago area.

“Perkins Coie has been a strategic partner with JTB-APO for almost a decade and I’m honored to receive this award on behalf of the firm’s efforts,” Theresa said. “The work we do is extremely important, because it’s about changing lives and how the legal industry can make a significant and measurable impact on our society.”

“The Chicago Office has been thrilled to work with JTB-APO for many, many years,” said Chris Wilson, Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s Chicago office. “We have co-hosted events annually and I have seen first-hand the impact JTB-APO has on the lives and futures of so many diverse young students. But I have been just as impressed with how positive these workshops have been for our lawyers. JTB-APO’s message of inclusion and opportunity is something we all can live each day. Theresa has been a great ambassador for JTB-APO and I am so proud of the work she does every day investing in and supporting local diversity initiatives.”
