SEATTLE, WA (February 26, 2019) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that the firm has been recognized as one of the top four patent litigation defense law firms in the nation by Lex Machina in its annual “Patent Litigation Year in Review” report. Of the national law firms handling the most patent defense cases in 2018, Perkins Coie ranked fourth, with 51 cases across 28 jurisdictions. In its handling of defense cases, the firm ranked second in terms of the most number of districts in which firms appeared. Perkins Coie also ranked as the fifth most active national firm representing petitioners in post-grant proceedings.

Lex Machina’s “Patent Litigation Year in Review” surveys and summarizes key trends that have emerged over the past year, drawing upon its platform, which combines data from PACER, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the International Trade Commission (ITC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Orange Book on Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs), among others. The annual report examines filing trends, case timing, motions, judges, top law firms, patent trends, parties and damages to showcase the power of Lex Machina’s Legal Analytics®.

“We are pleased and honored to again be recognized by Lex Machina as one of the top law firms hired by leading companies for their patent litigation and post-grant proceedings,” said Shannon Bloodworth, co-chair of Perkins Coie’s Intellectual Property practice. “Our rankings are a testament to the breadth of our experience, our technical acumen and our interdisciplinary approach to litigating complex patent cases throughout the country.”
