WASHINGTON D.C. (July 25, 2011) – Perkins Coie announced today that Selena Linde and Michael Sharkey have joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as Partners in the Insurance Coverage Litigation practice group. They join from Dickstein Shapiro where Linde served as Deputy Practice Leader in the Insurance Coverage group and Sharkey served as Partner.
"Selena and Mike are leaders in insurance coverage litigation with extensive experience and great reputations in this field," said Tim Burns, Firmwide Insurance Coverage Litigation practice Chair. "The firm is committed to being the premier firm for our clients in insurance coverage litigation and Selena and Mike’s arrival will enable us to continue what has been astounding quality growth in this area."
"Perkins Coie has a reputation for legal excellence and creativity in representing policyholders," added new Partner Selena Linde. "The firm's dedication to the insurance coverage group and collective team approach has allowed the practice to catapult to new heights and we are thrilled to be a part of this team."
They will focus their diverse practice on seeking coverage for a wide variety of areas including environmental liability, directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, product liability, asbestos, employer’s liability, employee dishonesty and bad faith. They will also advise clients on coverage audits, policy renewals and policy language.
Linde received her J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. with highest distinction from George Mason University. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Benchmark: The Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms & Attorneys recognized Linde as a “Future Star.” She is a regular commentator for Mealey's Bad Faith Reporter.
Sharkey earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Yale University. He serves on the Board of Editors of The Insurance Coverage Law Bulletin.
Linde and Sharkey have more than 30 years of combined experience representing policyholders in complex insurance coverage disputes and have collected hundreds of millions of dollars for their clients. They are primary authors and editors of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Policyholder Primer on Insurance.
They join an Insurance Coverage group that has the depth, experience and sophistication to handle the most complex coverage disputes on behalf of policyholders involving multiple insurers, while at the same time it is efficient enough to enforce a policyholder's rights to coverage in a dispute involving only one insurer. The group has extensive experience representing policyholders in all types of dispute resolution proceedings, ranging from pre-litigation negotiation and advocacy to litigation in both state and federal courts throughout the United States to domestic and international arbitrations.
