The all-things political news outlet Politico recently named Washington, D.C. Political Law partner Marc Elias to its "50 Politicos to Watch" list. The annual special section focuses on "up and comers" in a variety of categories such as candidates, journalists, lawyers, fundraisers, consultants and others that will be taking center stage in the political arena in 2012.
Listed under the Litigators to Watch, Marc is hailed as the go-to lawyer for a wide range of Democratic politicians not only in Washington, D.C. but nationwide as well, for his work in a variety of areas from legislation to advisement to post-election litigation. Career highlights include successfully representing Democratic candidate Al Franken in the 2008 Minnesota Senate recount, as well as Governor Mark Dayton in the 2010 Minnesota Governor's recount that included a successful argument in the state Supreme Court. Marc also successfully represented Senator Robert Menendez in the New Jersey Supreme Court case invalidating the application of state recall statutes to U.S. Senators.
