SEATTLE (June 30, 2020) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that the firm and 37 of its intellectual property attorneys were recognized by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) in the 2020 IAM Patent 1000 list, which recognizes the world’s leading patent professionals who are the best-in-class in patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation. The firm was again ranked nationally in the United States for patent litigation and earned new national rankings in the United States for patent prosecution and in China for overall patent law.

As part of its 2020 rankings, IAM recognized Perkins Coie’s Patent Litigation practice. “As the steadfast representative of elite technology players in disputes of critical commercial importance, Perkins Coie runs one of the best patent litigation practices nationwide.” The guide also recognizes the firm as "unrivaled" for its patent prosecution practice depth, stating “it adroitly collates and analyses the wealth of patent-related data now available to help technology companies take the optimal decisions” and credits the firm’s custom dashboards for clients “for making the management of data and the provision of strategic guidance a simple process.”

In its China: Foreign ranking, the firm is credited with “strong strategy development and implementation skills, strong and effective litigation capabilities, excellent command of Chinese and English, ability to explain complex problems and solutions to a non-patent expert, high level of responsiveness even when dealing with disparate time zones, high levels of integrity, and a strong team of IP professionals—few firms have the full spectrum of skills.”

In addition to its national rankings, Perkins Coie placed in seven regional categories including gold rankings in patent litigation, prosecution, and transaction rankings in Washington state. IAM named eight attorneys Global Leaders—Ramsey Al-Salam, Stephen Bishop, Christopher Daley-Watson, Peter Kinsella, Chun Ng, Paul Parker, Jerry Riedinger, and David St. John-Larkin— while four attorneys—Bing Ai, Chun Ng—were recognized as leading national IP strategists. This year’s guide recognizes, “among general practices in the United States, few have as diverse and integrated a patent group as Perkins Coie,” and “a great brand in patent practice nationally, Perkins Coie is proficient at meeting large-scale prosecution and litigation needs.”
