Under general supervision, assist lawyers and senior paralegals with all phases of litigation case support including document and information management, and organize and compile documents and data as requested. Assist political law attorneys with all phases of factual analysis, discovery and support, while maintaining positive contact with clients and observing confidentiality of client matters. Must have knowledge of all phases of litigation, discovery, and trial procedures, including experience with automated litigation support software. Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, attorney notebooks and other documents.
Act as depository for practice group research; gather, compile and organize materials as needed. Track relevant legislative and regulatory developments, inform associated attorneys and summarize and distribute relevant materials. Attend relevant hearings. Assist with document productions. Prepare material for photocopying and/or for in-house and outside distribution. Coordinate service of process and/or filings with public entities. Monitor case/matter deadlines. Maintain departmental form files and systems. Perform computer database input and retrieval. Assist with other client and administrative projects as needed. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the Firm's attendance expectations.
Applicants must have excellent organization and prioritization skills and show an enthusiasm for all phases of litigation support.
Required: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm or business environment. Paralegal assistant or legal clerk experience or equivalent.
Experience using Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis and other legal search engines. Interest or background in politics is an asset, as is a general knowledge and understanding of the federal election process. Fluency in standard MS Office applications, strong organization and prioritization skills, and the ability to manage time sensitive matters with professionalism and tact. Superb customer service skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong litigation skills required. Bluebooking ability required. Working additional hours beyond the normal schedule may be required
