The San Francisco office of Perkins Coie has an immediate opening for a Legal Practice Assistant in our busy Litigation practice group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of Litigation experience in a law firm environment. Candidate must have excellent communication skills, computer skills and organizational skills. This position will provide highly varied and complex administrative support, with minimal supervision to designated attorneys and to the San Francisco Litigation practice group. As a member of a professional support staff team, this position will promote and maintain the goodwill and reputation of the firm and maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.
Responsibilities include preparing documents for state and federal court filings (including state and federal appeals courts), letters, and other documents; setting up and maintaining case files; scheduling and travel coordination; and, assisting with time entry and prebill review. The candidate must be able to generate pleadings and briefs, including Tables of Contents and Authorities, and demonstrate flexibility to handle last-minute filings and prioritize work flow. The candidate must also have a strong knowledge of state and federal court rules.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to accurately type 65 wpm, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish effective working relationships throughout operational groups. They must possess strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style, as well as strong knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel, and familiarity with basic office equipment. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize workload, the ability to compose correspondence, and thorough understanding of pertinent legal terminology and procedures are also required.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as five or more years of litigation experience in a law firm environment.
