The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced, detail-oriented editor with an interest in the law. The editor will edit, proofread and cite check documents produced by attorneys and staff to ensure the highest level of accuracy and professionalism.

The position involves editing and proofreading various types of legal documents, as well as promotional materials, for spelling, outline/pagination, grammar, consistency, diction, logic, sense and factual accuracy. It also entails verifying the accuracy of citations and quotations in documents using Westlaw and various library and online resources, indicating pertinent subsequent history and advising attorneys of necessary corrections to citation form in accordance with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.

The successful candidate will be able to apply editing/proofreading procedures and grammar guidelines under moderate supervision, handle multiple projects and deadlines, work well under pressure, and work both independently and with others. The job requires the ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing, as well as an excellent command of the English language, attention to detail, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Internet research skills and the ability to focus for long periods on repetitive materials. Legal knowledge/experience and familiarity with The Bluebook are preferred, but we will train. The position requires a Bachelor of Arts degree in English or a related subject and two to four years of experience as an editor/proofreader or equivalent.

Hours: 12:30 PM-9:00 PM
