WDC Attorney Ellen Weintraub Appointed to FEC

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 6, 2002) – Ellen Weintraub, an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Perkins Coie, has been appointed to the Federal Election Commission. The announcement was made today by the White House. Weintraub will serve the remainder of a six-year term, expiring in April 2007. Previously she served as Counsel for the United States House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.
Bob Bauer, managing partner of Perkins Coie's office in Washington, D.C., and chairman of the firm's political law group, said the firm was delighted with the news of Weintraub's potential appointment. "We are very pleased and proud that the President has elected to appoint Ellen to this position. She is a superb lawyer and a valued colleague, and while we will miss her here, we are delighted that she will have this honor and opportunity. Ellen will be an outstanding Commissioner," he said.
Weintraub's appointment received widespread praise when it was announced earlier in the year in Roll Call.
