Regulatory Litigation |
Overview
How the court interprets statutes or regulations can directly impact a company's ability to run its business. Perkins Coie litigators are well versed in regulatory interpretation issues and the enforcement implications that can arise from them. As part of a full-service law firm, our regulatory litigators often partner with attorneys from our other practices, including Communications, Energy, Antitrust and Unfair Competition, Consumer Protection, Privacy & Security, Marketing & Advertising, Labor & Employment, State & Local Tax, Environment & Natural Resources, Intellectual Property and Political Law. With experience in state and federal courts across the country, our attorneys represent clients in a range of regulatory matters, from arguing disputes that arise from ambiguous statutory and regulatory language, to defending enforcement actions. We also are actively involved in the courts and the agencies with litigation and hearings over the interpretation of, authorizations for, or defense of permits. We have extensive experience with agencies where these regulatory matters may arise, including state public utility commissions, state energy facility siting agencies, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Election Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, the International Trade Commission, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state securities regulatory agencies.
