Perkins Coie Wins Idaho State Bar Pro Bono 6.1 Challenge

Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has received the 2010 Pro Bono 6.1 Challenge Award from the Fourth Judicial District of the Idaho State Bar.

The 6.1 Challenge Award is sponsored by the Fourth District Bar Association as part of its Law Day program which recognizes the pro bono and charitable efforts of local attorneys and law firms. The 6.1 Challenge Award is given each year to firms for outstanding service in the area of providing legal services to the poor, performing charitable work, and making efforts to improve the legal profession. The Boise office of Perkins Coie was a co-recipient of the 2010 6.1 Challenge Award based upon the amount of service hours performed by attorneys and legal staff, the high percentage of attorneys and staff participating in pro bono activities, and the quality and diversity of representation and other charitable service provided.

Twelve out of the 13 attorneys in the Boise office contributed to the office's nearly 1,000 hours of pro bono work from April 2009 to April 2010. The pro bono hours were devoted to a range of matters including representing victims of domestic violence, participating in the Court Appointed Special Advocates program, handling corporate work for local nonprofit organizations, and participating in nonprofit technology and sustainable resource initiatives. Perkins Coie also received the Pro Bono 6.1 Challenge Award in 2007 and 2008.

Perkins Coie's devotion to pro bono efforts is not limited to the Boise office. Throughout the firm's 14 domestic offices, Perkins Coie has a high level of commitment to pro bono legal work and has devoted more than 150,000 hours to pro bono service in the past five years.
