Perkins Coie Wins Bar Pro Bono Award for Second Straight Year

BOISE, Idaho (May 9, 2008) – Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has received the Idaho State Bar's Pro Bono 6.1 Challenge Award for the second consecutive year.
The 4th District-sponsored challenge recognizes one small and one large firm in its pro bono and public service efforts. Perkins Coie was awarded the small firm award. In addition, two of the firm's attorneys, Shaina Jensen and Randy Schmitz, received individual awards for their pro bono work.
At an 84 percent participation rate, 11 out of the 13 attorneys in the Perkins Coie office contributed to the firms 640 hours of pro bono work from March 2007 to March 2008. This was an increase from 542 hours during the previous year. Perkins Coie's pro bono hours were devoted to a range of matters including representing child victims in protective classes, and advising a nonprofit dedicated to assisting Mexican refugees and indigent immigrants. Perkins Coie was chosen by a panel of judges that included Mayor Dave Bieter, Idaho Statesman Executive Editor and Vice President Vicki Gowler, U.S. District Court Chief Judge B. Lynn Winmill, Idaho 4th District Court Judge Ronald Wilper and Idaho Supreme Court Justice Roger Burdick.
