Perkins Coie Names Landefeld Head of National Business Practice

SEATTLE, WA (January 6, 2005) Perkins Coie LLP announced today that Stewart M. Landefeld has been selected to lead the firm's national business practice group.

The group is comprised of nearly 200 attorneys working from 11 offices across the country. It has a broad charter, covering the full range of finance, transactional and counseling work for large public and private companies, leading emerging technology companies, private equity and venture capital firms, and some public entities.

"Stewart will be a terrific leader of the business group," said Robert E. Giles, Managing Partner. "As the long-time head of the Seattle corporate finance group, he had a great record of working collaboratively to promote quality work by quality people for quality clients. He is tremendously well respected by his colleagues and the business community."

The firm's national business practice has an impressive roster of clients. In Seattle, those clients include large companies such as Microsoft, The Boeing Company, Puget Sound Energy, Weyerhaeuser and Getty Images, biotech companies such as Zymogenetics, NeoRx and Hollister-Stier, and 32 of the state's 50 fastest-growing technology companies, including HouseValues, Coinstar and F5 Networks. Other prominent clients of the national group include Pacificorp, Google, Craigslist, Vitesse Semiconductor, Phelps Dodge, SPO Capital Partners, Windward Capital Partners, Newmont Mining, Quizno's, Strategic Hotel Capital and Wynnchurch Capital Partners.

Landefeld, who joined Perkins Coie in 1980, is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School. He is named one of the "Best Lawyers in America," is co-author and editor of The Public Company Handbook: A Corporate Governance and Disclosure Guide for Directors and Executives and co-author of Washington Corporate Law: Corporations and LLCs. He is Vice-Chair of the Seattle Foundation Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Henry Art Gallery Board of Trustees.
