Perkins Coie Names Joe Mais Chair of the Firm's Commercial Litigation Practice

SEATTLE (July 30, 2008) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Joe Mais has been elected chair of the firm's national Commercial Litigation practice. Mais succeeds Thomas Boeder, a partner in the firm's Seattle office.
Mais joined Brown & Bain P.A. in 1978 and served as managing partner from 1995 to 2004. Following Brown & Bain's merger with Perkins Coie, he served on the firm's four-person Management Committee from 2004 to 2008, and continues to serve on the firmwide Executive Committee. Mais also maintains an active litigation practice, which focuses on securities and corporate governance, intellectual property and general business litigation.
"Joe is a talented lawyer and a strong and dynamic leader," said Robert Giles, firmwide managing partner. "He will bring great energy and initiative to his new role and will guide the practice group effectively as we work to meet the goals of the firm."
In addition to his commitment to the firm and his clients, Mais has been actively involved with the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, serving on its board of directors from 2001 to 2006. Mais has also held leadership positions with the American Bar Association and State Bar of Arizona.
