Press Release
SEATTLE (January 21, 2011) – For the ninth consecutive year, Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has been named to FORTUNE magazine's "The 100 Best Places to Work For." This year the firm was ranked 55th, an improvement over last year's ranking of 75. The full list and any related stories appear in the February 7 issue of FORTUNE and at www.fortune.com/bestcompanies. "Each year we have been honored to be named to the list, but to be ranked for nine straight years is particularly gratifying and we are exceptionally proud to have improved in our ranking each of the past two years," said Managing Partner Robert Giles. "We continue to focus on attracting, retaining and promoting dedicated people who provide outstanding service to our clients, and it is important to us that those people feel that they work in a rewarding environment. This distinction with FORTUNE magazine is validation of our commitment to providing that environment for our employees." The firm has been recognized for its accomplishments in the legal profession, its commitment to diversity and its excellent client service. The firm was named as one of the "2010 Top Ten Family Friendly Firms" by Yale Law Women. For the second consecutive year, the firm was named one of the "Best Law Firms for Women" by Working Mother magazine and national consulting firm Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, and the Firm also earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's top rating of 100 percent in the 2009 and 2010 Corporate Equality Index. In addition, the firm received the Corporate Partnership Award for Supporting People with Disabilities. In 2010, the firm was ranked as a leader in 33 practices both nationwide and in nine key markets across the country by Chambers USA. Also, 141 of its attorneys from offices across the United States were selected for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third of the scoring is based on the company's responses to the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, internal communications, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts. Any company that is at least seven years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible.
