Perkins Coie Marks Six Straight Years on FORTUNE magazine's "The 100 Best Places to Work For" List
Press Release
SEATTLE (January 22, 2008) – For the sixth consecutive year, Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has been named to FORTUNE magazine's "The 100 Best Places to Work For." This year the firm was ranked 55th, an improvement over last year's ranking of 64. The full list and related stories appear in the February 4 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands January 28 and at www.fortune.com on January 22.
"Each year we have been honored to be named to the list, but to be ranked for six years in a row is an accomplishment we are exceptionally proud of," said Managing Partner Robert E. Giles. "We work hard to recruit talented, dedicated people who provide outstanding service to our clients. It is important to us that those people feel that they work in a rewarding environment in which they can grow their careers. This distinction with FORTUNE magazine is validation of our commitment to providing that environment for our employees."
Perkins Coie is regularly recognized for its accomplishments in the legal profession and its commitment to excellent client service. In 2007, the firm was ranked a leader in 11 practices, with #1 placements in eight key markets across the country by ChambersUSA. Also, 117 of its attorneys from offices across the United States were selected for inclusion in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
To pick the “100 Best Companies to Work for”, FORTUNE works with Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Most of the company’s score (two-thirds) is based on the results of the survey, which is sent to a minimum of 400 randomly selected employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about the management’s credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. The other third of the scoring is based on the company’s responses to the Institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communications, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts, etc.
About Perkins Coie: Founded in 1912 in Seattle, Perkins Coie has more than 850 lawyers in 19 offices across the United States and Asia. The firm is celebrating its 100th anniversary of representing great companies ranging in size from start-ups to FORTUNE 100 corporations.
