Perkins Coie Marks 10 Years on FORTUNE's "The 100 Best Places to Work For" List
Press Release
SEATTLE (January 19, 2012) – For the 10th consecutive year, Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has been named to FORTUNE magazine's list of "The 100 Best Places to Work For." This year the firm was ranked 58. The full list and any related stories appear in the February 6 issue of FORTUNE and at www.fortune.com/bestcompanies.
"It is always an honor to be named to the list, but to be ranked for the 10th straight year is quite an achievement," said Robert Giles, Firmwide Managing Partner. "This year we are celebrating 100 years of service and receiving this honor is a great way to start the year. For the last 100 years, we have focused on attracting, retaining and promoting dedicated people who provide outstanding service to our clients. This distinction with FORTUNE magazine is validation of our commitment to providing a great place to work for our employees."
Perkins Coie has been recognized for its accomplishments in the legal profession, its commitment to diversity and its excellent client service. The firm has been named to the Yale Law Women’s “Top Ten Family Friendly Firms” list in 2008, 2010 and 2011 and to the “Best Law Firms for Women" by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC in 2008, 2009 and 2011. In 2011, the firm received a Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum. The firm has also earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's top rating of 100 percent in the Corporate Equality Index for four years in a row.
In 2011, the firm was ranked as a leader in 34 practices both nationwide and in 10 key markets across the country by Chambers USA. Also, 161 of its attorneys from offices across the United States were selected for inclusion in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
To pick the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. This year’s survey garnered responses from 280 companies. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. The other third of the scoring is based on the company's responses to the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, internal communications, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts. Any company that is at least seven years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible. The deadline for applying for next year's list is July 1, 2012.
