Perkins Coie Celebrates 11 Years On Fortune’s “100 Best Companies To Work For” List
Press Release
SEATTLE (January 17, 2013) – Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has been named to FORTUNE Magazine’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For” for the 11th consecutive year. This year the firm was ranked 33, an improvement over last year’s ranking of 58, and was one of only five law firms to make the annual list.
“We work very hard to ensure that Perkins Coie is a great place to work,” said Robert Giles, Firmwide Managing Partner. “We’re starting our second century this year, and being recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ is a great way to start out our next hundred years. Our commitment to attracting, retaining and promoting dedicated people who provide outstanding service to our clients is as strong as it has ever been.”
Perkins Coie has been recognized for excellence and innovation in the legal industry and is frequently honored for its commitment to providing a workplace where all employees have the opportunity to grow and thrive. For the last three years, the firm has been named to the Yale Law Women’s “Top Ten Family Friendly Firms” and has received a Gold Standard Certification from The Women in Law Empowerment Forum for the past two years. The firm has also been listed on Working Mother Media/Flex-Time Lawyers LLC’s “Best Law Firms for Women” four times in the last five years. The firm has also earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s top rating of 100 percent in the Corporate Equality Index for five years in a row.
To identify the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” FORTUNE partnered with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on the results of the Institute’s Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to attitudes about management’s credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. The remaining third of the scoring is based on the company’s responses to the Institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, internal communications, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts. Any company that is at least seven years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible to participate.
The full list and any related stories appear in the February 4 issue of FORTUNE and at www.fortune.com/bestcompanies.
