Press Release
MENLO PARK, CALIF. (July 15, 2005) – Perkins Coie announced today two Menlo Park attorneys will serve on the board of the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association (SVIPLA), beginning in September. Partner Brian Coleman will lead the board as President, and Associate Glenn Von Tersch will serve as Program Chair, deciding on speakers and topics for association meetings. After one year as Program Chair, Von Tersch will move into a different role on the board.
The SVIPLA is a professional association of lawyers who focus on intellectual property matters including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, litigation, and other related fields. Coleman will take over as President after serving as Vice President for a year; Von Tersch was appointed by all members of the board to serve as Program Chair.
"The SVIPLA is a respected organization in Silicon Valley, and it's quite an honor for Brian and Glenn to serve on the board," said Ed Wes, Managing Partner of Perkins Coie's Menlo Park office. "Through their work with the organization, they will have many opportunities to learn more about the IP challenges our clients are facing today."
Coleman and Von Tersch are part of Perkins Coie's national intellectual property practice group. Coleman focuses his practice on patent, trademark, and copyright procurement and enforcement; electrical, electronic, and software patents; licensing; and start-up counseling. Von Tersch works on patent prosecution and IP litigation, counseling, strategy, and licensing.
They are part of a nationally-recognized group of attorneys who help clients develop offensive and defensive intellectual property strategies and programs and identify and perfect intellectual property rights. Team members also assist in the intellectual property aspects of securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions on a global basis.
