Perkins Coie Announces New Partners and Of Counsel – Firm Welcomed 90 New Attorneys in 2002

SEATTLE (February 28, 2003) – Law firm Perkins Coie announces the promotion of 11 new partners and 3 new Of Counsel in its Bellevue, Denver, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle and Washington, D.C. offices. In addition, 90 new attorneys joined the firm in 2002.
Bellevue, Washington
Donald W. Heyrich has been promoted to partner in the Bellevue office, where he practices labor and employment law. Before joining Perkins Coie, Don served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Civil Division, Labor and Employment Section. He received his B.A. from The Evergreen State College in 1988 and J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University) in 1993.
Pamela Weidler Krueger has been named a partner in the Bellevue office, where her practice focuses on land use and environmental permitting and litigation. She has written on issues related to NEPA and mining, land use case law, and state and national environmental policy acts. Ms. Krueger received her B.A. from The Colorado College in 1989 and her J.D. with honors from Drake Law School in 1994. Denver, Colorado
Lynne M. Hanson has been promoted to Of Counsel in the Denver office, where her practice focuses on franchise regulatory law, along with corporate law and business transactions. She is a member of the American Bar Association's Forum Committee on Franchising. Ms. Hanson received a B.A. from Carleton College in 1981 and her J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1988.
Garrett M. Tuttle has been promoted to Of Counsel in the Denver office. He practices franchise and distribution law, corporate law, and intellectual property law with a focus on trademarks. He is a member of the International Trademark Association. He received a B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1981 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1984. He also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Hong Kong, PRC
Gigi Cheah has been promoted to partner in the Hong Kong office. Her practice emphasizes technology, telecommunications and media law, in addition to Internet and e-commerce, intellectual property, and antitrust and consumer protection. Formerly she was the Asia Pacific Legal Director for 3Com Asia Pacific Rim Pte Limited in Singapore. Ms. Cheah received a B.L. in 1984 and an M.L. in 1995 from the University of Sydney.
Los Angeles, California
Benjamin E. Soffer has been promoted to partner in the Los Angeles office, where his litigation practice focuses on product liability, with emphasis on aviation, machinery, asbestos and trucking. He has also handled matters relating to personal injury, property damage, unfair competition and breach of contract. He received a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University in 1978 and his J.D. cum laude from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1995.
Portland, Oregon
Elizabeth Schwartz has been promoted to partner in the Portland office, where she is a member of the Litigation Department. Her practice also includes general appellate consultation and advocacy. She is currently serving as president of Oregon Women Lawyers. Ms. Schwartz received a B.A. magna cum laude from Rice University in 1990 and a J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1994.
Seattle, Washington
Michael D. Broaddus has been promoted to partner in the Seattle office, where his intellectual property litigation practice focuses on patent litigation in a number of industries, including entertainment, life sciences and computer technology. Mr. Broaddus received a B.S. cum laude from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 and a J.D. cum laude from Cornell Law School in 1990.
Sonja Lengnick has been named a partner in the Seattle office. Her labor and employment law practice includes defending employers and advising and training managers and human resources employees on personnel issues, including employee policies and handbooks. Ms. Lengnick received a B.A. cum laude from Williams College in 1988 and a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota in 1995. She also holds an M.A. in social psychology.
Fred Rivera has been promoted to partner in the Seattle office. His litigation practice focuses on employment, construction and commercial matters, and Fair Lending compliance. He is a former attorney for the Civil Rights Division in the U.S. Department of Justice and currently serves on the South Puget Sound Fair Housing Center Board of Directors. Mr. Rivera received a B.A. from California State University in 1990 and his J.D. magna cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1993.
Todd Rosencrans has been named a partner in the Seattle office, where he is a member of the Product Liability Practice Group. His practice includes civil and aviation litigation and product liability and warranty consulting. Mr. Rosencrans received a B.A. summa cum laude from Concordia College in 1992 and received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1995.
Galen Schuler has been promoted to partner in the Seattle office, where he practices land use and natural resources law with emphasis on the Endangered Species Act. He is a frequent speaker and author on ESA issues. Mr. Schuler received a B.A. magna cum laude from Boise State in 1985 and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 1995. He also holds an M.A. in public affairs from the University of Minnesota and is a candidate for a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Washington.
Marie G. Aglion has been promoted to Of Counsel in the Seattle office, where she is a member of the Litigation Department. She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, appeals, antitrust, insurance coverage litigation, and privacy and data protection and has written frequently on these topics. Ms. Aglion received a B.A. magna cum laude from Brandeis University in 1983 and a J.D. with honors from the University of Washington School of Law in 1991. She also holds an M.A. in international relations from Georgetown University. Washington, D.C.
W. H. "Buzz" Fawcett has been named a partner in the Washington, D.C. office, where he has developed a legislative practice on Capitol Hill on a wide variety of issues, particularly environmental and natural resources law. He served on the transition advisory teams for President George Bush and Governor Dirk Kempthorne of Idaho. Previously he was City Attorney in Boise, Idaho, for 13 years. Mr. Fawcett received a B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1976 and his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 1979.
