Perkins Coie Adds Another Environment, Energy & Resources Attorney

SEATTLE (November 28, 2011) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Michael Dunning has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Seattle office in the Environment, Energy & Resources practice. He joins the firm from the Washington State Office of the Attorney General where he served as an Assistant Attorney General for 11 years representing the state’s Department of Ecology. For the last six years, he was Chief of the Hazardous Waste Cleanup & Management section for the Attorney General’s office.

“Mike is a great addition to our national environment, energy & resources team,” said Tom Lindley, firmwide Environment, Energy & Resources practice chair. “His unique background will be invaluable to our growing national practice, and we are very excited to have him at Perkins Coie.”

Dunning will focus his practice on representing clients in air quality, water quality, shorelines and hazardous waste cleanup cases before administrative boards, state and federal courts. He also has experience in negotiating complex settlements under the Model Toxics Control Act and CERCLA.

Dunning received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Iowa and his B.A. from the University of Texas. He was named a Washington Law & Politics Rising Star in 2007 and 2009.

Dunning is the 16th attorney to join the firm’s Environment, Energy & Resources practice this year, together with Robert Thibault in Denver; Cecily Barclay, Marc Bruner, Marie Cooper, Matthew Gray, Julie Jones, Stephen Kostka, Alan Murphy, Geoffrey Robinson, Barbara Schussman and Christopher Tom in San Francisco; John Iani in Seattle; and LeAnn Johnson Koch, Paul Smyth and Alexandra Magill Bromer in Washington, D.C. These attorneys join more than 70 Perkins Coie attorneys focused on environmental, energy and resource matters. The Environmental practice has been ranked by Chambers USA nationally and in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
