Ng Named Head of Perkins Coie's Intellectual Property Practice

Press Release

SEATTLE (February 2, 2005) Perkins Coie LLP announced today that Chun M. Ng has been selected to lead the firm's Intellectual Property practice. The nationally-recognized group of attorneys helps clients develop offensive and defensive intellectual property strategies and programs, identify and perfect intellectual property rights, and assists in the intellectual property aspects of securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions on a global basis.

Ng is currently the primary intellectual property counsel to such leading-edge technology companies as OmniVision Technologies, Monolithic Power Systems, and Spreadtrum Communications. He also represents such technology innovators as Siebel Systems and Microsoft Corporation in various patent matters.

"With Chun's leadership, I expect the Intellectual Property practice to build on its notable strengths and continue its remarkable growth," said Robert E. Giles, Managing Partner.

The group's registered patent attorneys and agents work with leading technology companies, including Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon.com, Micron, AT&T Wireless, and Washington Mutual. Collectively, they have advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, and Biophysics, as well as substantial experience in the life sciences, software, semiconductor, telecommunications and aviation industries. In 2004, the group's efforts resulted in the issuance of nearly 500 patents and the filing of more than 1,650 new patent applications worldwide.

Trademark and copyright attorneys in the group focus on all aspects of domestic and international trademark work, with a strong expertise in the area of domain name disputes and other Internet-related issues, as well as experience protecting and enforcing copyrights through registration, counseling and agreements. Some of their clients include Boeing, Costco, T-Mobile USA, and Amazon.com.

"It's a privilege to be a part of such a fantastic team," said Ng. "We are excited to provide world-class intellectual property services to our clients across the country, protecting and supporting their ideas and products to ensure their success."

Ng graduated from the University of Washington law school. He was named a "Washington Super Lawyer" in 2003 by Washington Law & Politics and was named to the Puget Sound Business Journal's list of "40 Under 40" in 1999. He is currently a member of the board of directors for Kin On Health Care Center. He is also a former president of the Asian Bar Association of Washington.
