Bauer to Co-Chair Presidential Commission on Election Administration

Press Release

Political Law Partner Bob Bauer has been appointed as co-chair of the Presidential Commission on Election Administration, a bipartisan commission to examine voting reforms. President Obama announced the Commission during the State of the Union Address. The Commission is charged with addressing how to reduce long voting lines, improve the experience of voting through a customer service orientation and assist members of the military and other voters.

Bauer served as General Counsel to the President’s re-election committee, to Obama for America 2008 campaign and as General Counsel to the Democratic National Committee. Bauer first joined Perkins Coie in 1980. He left the firm to serve as White House Counsel from December of 2009 until June of 2011.

Over the course of his 30-year career, Bauer has authored books on campaign finance law, co-authored several bipartisan reports and served as counsel to the Democratic Leader in the trial of President Bill Clinton in 1999. Read Bauer’s full bio here.

Along with Bauer, Ben Ginsberg, partner at Patton Boggs LLP and general counsel to the Republican Mitt Romney campaign, has been appointed to serve as co-chair of the commission.
