Perkins Coie Recognized by Financial Times As One of the Most Innovative Law Firms in the U.S.
SEATTLE (November 29, 2012) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce it has been recognized by the Financial Times as a "Standout” in Intellectual Property (IP) for the firm’s successful defense of client HTC against Flashpoint Technologies, a spin-off of Apple’s Image Capture Division, in a dispute over smartphone patent infringement before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Perkins Coie was one of only four firms in the top category (Standout) and one of only 15 firms ranked in the IP category overall.
“To be recognized by the Financial Times as one of the most innovative law firms in the U.S. is an amazing honor,” said Jonathan James, Firmwide Co-Chair of Perkins Coie’s Patent Litigation Practice. “At Perkins Coie, we have built our IP practice around representing the world’s leading technology companies in connection with their most complex IP issues. It was a privilege to represent HTC in the Flashpoint case, and we look forward to continuing to work with them and other cutting-edge companies to help shape the next generation of IP law.”
For the Financial Times U.S. Innovative Lawyers 2012 report, 320 submissions were received and more than 400 telephone interviews with senior lawyers and C-suite executives were conducted to arrive at the final rankings. The entries were scored out of 10 points on originality, rationale and impact, and benchmarked against each other to arrive at the final ranking.
