National Law Firm Elects Hood River Lawyer to Partnership

The Seattle-based law firm of Perkins Coie has elected local attorney Erick J. Haynie to its partnership. Haynie is now a partner in the firm's litigation group and concentrates his practice in the areas of general commercial litigation, real estate and contract litigation. Haynie is based out of the Portland office and has tried numerous commercial disputes for many Northwest businesses and individuals. Haynie focuses his practice in Hood River, Wasco, and Multnomah Counties.

Haynie grew up in Hood River and is a 1992 graduate of Hood River Valley High School. Haynie graduated from the University of Portland in 1995 and received his law degree in 1998 from Northwestern University in Chicago. Prior to law school, Haynie worked as a radio announcer for KIHR, a local radio station. In high school, Haynie also wrote a weekly column for the Hood River News.

In addition to his commercial practice, Haynie maintains an active pro bono practice, including elder abuse cases, consumer law disputes, family law disputes and estate work. In 2004, Legal Aid Services of Oregon recognized Erick for his pro bono contributions in rural Oregon with the Community Partnership Award.

Perkins Coie serves a broad spectrum of clients ranging in size from individuals, start-ups, non-profits and FORTUNE 100 companies. The firm includes nearly 700 attorneys working from 15 offices across the United States and in China. Perkins Coie also serves a number of clients in the Gorge. In recent years, Haynie and Perkins Coie have advised various local businesses and non-profit groups, including for example No Casino and United Way of the Columbia Gorge.

Haynie lives in Hood River with his wife, Katie, and his two daughters, Caroline and Georgia. Haynie's father, Charles C. Haynie, is a retired physician. Haynie's brother, Curtis, is a local dentist.
