Naoki Kawada joins Perkins Coie

LOS ANGELES (February 4, 2009) - Perkins Coie announced that Naoki Kawada has joined the firm as a partner in its national Business practice. He will be based in the firm's Los Angeles office, though he will travel frequently to Japan and Orange County where many of his clients are located.
Naoki has over 10 years of experience advising clients in a wide range of areas including: cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, IP transactions, entertainment-related transactions and corporate governance. Naoki serves as outside general counsel to many of his clients regularly counseling them on corporate, labor and litigation issues. He also has experience with United States – Japan trade issues including defending antidumping and antitrust investigations.
At Perkins Coie, Naoki joins a team of nearly 200 attorneys who provide finance, transactions and counseling services to businesses ranging in size from start-ups to FORTUNE 100 companies.
Naoki is active in the local Japanese business community and he currently serves as vice president of Japan Business Association of Southern California, and outside counsel to Japanese Food Culture Association and Entertainment Platform of Japan. He received his law degree from University of San Diego and his undergraduate degree in Economics and Russian from Washington University in St. Louis. Naoki is Japanese and has spent approximately half his life in the United States.
