Mark Albert is a partner in the firm's Emerging Companies and Private Equity practice groups. He has been a transactional attorney for more than 19 years with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, and initial public offerings. Mark has helped clients successfully complete more than 100 acquisition/sale transactions ranging in size from over $1 million to over $1 billion. Typical transactions have included public/public mergers, public/private acquisitions, private/private mergers, and asset and/or stock acquisitions, with an emphasis on the sale of venture-backed companies, search fund acquisition/sales and acquisitions/sales by private equity investors. Mark has also represented more than 150 emerging growth companies, assisting them in raising in excess of $1 billion in capital. He has also helped a number of those companies successfully complete initial public offerings. Areas of particular expertise include: Internet, software, entertainment, semiconductors, hardware and energy. Many of these companies originated from university funded technologies and Mark is currently an active participant in the V-Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, which aids in the commercialization of university sponsored research. Mark also regularly counsels clients on general corporate and securities issues, business strategies, fundraising and team building.
