Overview

Louise Lu serves as trusted legal counsel to leading technology companies on intellectual property (IP) practice, particularly related to dispute resolutions as well as IP licensing, prosecution, and acquisition.

While well-versed in a broad IP practice, Louise has a focus on patent litigation and invalidity proceedings. She has successfully litigated numerous patent infringement cases in forums including Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and federal district courts. Louise also has substantial successful experience in coordinating patent litigation and invalidity proceedings internationally, and supervising patent prosecution in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including both inter partes review (IPR) and Covered Business Method (CBM) review proceedings. Many of these matters involve standard and essential patents, or otherwise relate to standard setting.

Since the start of her legal career in 2007, Louise has represented numerous clients in Asia and the United States—from large-scale to startup companies. Louise works closely with clients and tailors IP solutions to meet their business objectives and legal needs. She also has a track record of securing early victories or otherwise favorable outcome in IP and commercial litigation involving breach of contract and unfair competition claims.

Louise has litigated and counseled clients regarding patents in a wide range of technical areas, including: wireless, encryption, video and audio compression, artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing, smartphone software functionalities, software design and testing, computer architecture and design, network systems, computer database programming, mechanics, and semiconductor devices and design. Prior to law school, Louise worked as a project coordinator in computer database and network system programming and design.
