Leading Intellectual Property Litigation Team Joins Perkins Coie in Chicago
CHICAGO (February 21, 2012) – Perkins Coie has added Timothy Carroll as Partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice. He is accompanied in the practice by Matthew Carmody as Partner and Steven Lubezny as Associate. They join the firm in Chicago from Loeb & Loeb LLP.

The group's practice is national in scope and focuses on intellectual property and commercial litigation matters, including patent infringement, misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets, licensing and technology disputes, breaches of restrictive covenants, class actions and other business tort actions. Carroll is also widely recognized for his counseling of clients on adopting and implementing lawfully compliant records management programs, electronic communications policies and eDiscovery initiatives.
Carroll has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer in Intellectual Property Litigation, as a “Top Lawyer in Illinois” in Intellectual Property Law by Leading Lawyers Network from 2009 to 2011 and has been named to Montclair's Who's Who Among Law Professionals. His representative client list includes scores of companies who commonly rank in the Fortune 500 list as well as emerging technology companies. He is a member of the Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, the International Association of Defense Counsel, Clinton-Gore Alumni Association and The Sedona Conference, Working Group on eDiscovery. He earned his J.D. from the DePaul University College of Law and his B.A. from the University of St. Francis.
Carmody has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2011 and 2012. He has helped achieve a number of significant victories in IP litigation involving software and emerging technologies and his clients include a large financial institution and private equity firm. He serves on the DePaul University College of Law Intellectual Property Career Advisory Board. He also received the Washington D.C. Lawyers' Committee For Civil Rights and Urban Affairs Outstanding Achievement Award in connection with his participation in major, national civil rights litigation. He earned his J.D. from the DePaul University College of Law and a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Lubezny has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2009 to 2012. He has significant trial experience litigating cases before various federal courts and the International Trade Commission, and has handled matters involving a wide range of technologies from internet business methods to telecommunications to pharmaceuticals. He earned his J.D., with high honors, from the Chicago-Kent College of Law/Institute of Technology and his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
