Overview

Kate Stetsko focuses on complex commercial litigation, including business law, product liability, and appellate law.

Kate regularly advises clients on commercial disputes and remedies, from simple working capital calculation disputes to multimillion-dollar arbitrations and trials. She has significant experience advising corporations on personal injury cases, including toxic tort claims, aviation, and product liability matters. Kate’s personal injury practice includes a focus on medical causation issues. She regularly guides nationally renowned doctors and scientists in constructing effective and persuasive expert reports, and she questions opposition experts in subject areas like genetics, cancer biology, neurology, and neuropsychology.

A skilled case manager, Kate handles large-scale litigations from start to finish, including leading discovery efforts and navigating procedural disputes. Clients rely on Kate to thoroughly understand their businesses and tailor solutions that work with the client’s strengths and weaknesses. She has spent a considerable amount of time in the courtroom and practices in both state and federal court, including consolidated and multi-district proceedings and complex bankruptcy litigation. Kate has particular experience with Illinois civil procedure and a deep understanding of Illinois state law, which benefit her local clients and national clients that have a presence in Illinois.

In addition, Kate has appellate litigation experience and has drafted numerous successful federal and state appellate briefs.

Kate is active in mentoring the next generation of attorneys at the firm and serves on the Chicago office’s Professional Development Committee.
