Joseph McCoy Joins Perkins Coie from Schwartz Cooper

CHICAGO (June 2, 2008) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Joseph McCoy has joined the firm as a partner in the Real Estate group. He will practice in Perkins Coie's Chicago office.

McCoy represents institutional real estate lenders in all types of complex lending transactions, from construction financing and mortgage lending to mezzanine financing, participant loan transactions and syndicated loan transactions. He also represents clients in land acquisitions and developments, as well as the disposition of various types of properties, such as universities, office buildings, apartment buildings and shopping centers. In addition, he represents both landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions. McCoy joins the firm from Schwartz Cooper.

McCoy joins a team of nearly 50 attorneys located in offices across the country who help clients with all aspects of real estate transactions including financing, acquisition, development and disposition of major projects nationally and internationally. The group handles a wide variety of different types of projects, including hotels and resorts, golf course and housing developments, mixed use projects, corporate campuses, retirement communities, industrial facilities and public/private developments.

McCoy is a Board Member of Leadership Greater Chicago, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, and Urban Prep Academy.

McCoy earned his law degree from Northwestern University and his A.M. and A.B. from the University of Chicago.
