Jon James is a partner in the firm's Phoenix office. His practice focuses on patent, intellectual property and other commercial litigation for technology companies. He has represented clients, including Intel and Micron, in patent cases throughout the United States. In addition, he frequently counsels clients about patent enforcement and licensing issues and has extensive experience advising clients about, negotiating with and litigating against "patent trolls." Mr. James also frequently advises clients about patent law and policy issues and has co-authored amicus briefs in a number of important patent cases. He has also litigated a number of cases involving intellectual property-related antitrust issues and regularly advises clients about such issues.
Mr. James also assists U.S. technology companies in intellectual property infringement and licensing/unfair competition litigation matters in China. Through this experience, he has gained considerable experience and knowledge about China's intellectual property, licensing and competition laws and about civil litigation in the Chinese courts. He has worked closely with Chinese counsel in these matters and travels to China frequently.
