Jessica Berch is an associate with the firm's Litigation, Appellate, and Investigations & White Collar Defense practices. She has experience in a number of areas, including constitutional law, class action defense, administrative law, and corporate governance. She has briefed cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and Arizona Supreme Court, among others, and has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also represented clients in connection with investigations by federal and state authorities regarding tax, securities, and environmental issues.
Jessica has an active pro bono practice, which has covered a wide variety of substantive areas, including immigration actions, constitutional impact litigation, and family law. Jessica was part of the team in Doe v. Reed, in which the United States Supreme Court held that the disclosure of the names of referendum petition signers does not violate the First Amendment. She also won an appeal in an immigration case before the Ninth Circuit by persuading the court that the client had raised a genuine issue regarding his citizenship, providing him his first real hope of returning to the United States since his removal in 2006.
